Fundación Una Mano Amiga (UMA) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to assisting children in social high-risk situations. Most of these children have been exposed to domestic violence and come from very low income households. UMA’s mission is to place the kids in different foster houses run by the NGO and, together with a group of child psychologists and social workers, as well as with the assistance of local community contributors, teach them working skills along with primary and secondary education to help them integrate into society and, as young adults, become productive members of the community.
I was involved with UMA for several years, working as a volunteer on several projects, including this one. This was a video about the stories of some of the kids there, as well as how some of the houses were given to UMA as a donation. The main purpose of this video was to show what UMA is doing, their mission and success stories. It has been one of the most personally rewarding projects I've had the pleasure of working on.
